  • Many casting directors and agents are working from home with little or no projects, they are therefore calling on actors to send in CVs, showreels and voice reels and they might actually have time to watch them– now is the time!


  • Dark Unicorn's Covid-19 Monologues and Musicals Marathon - £20 Flat Fee Dark Unicorn Productions Mandy Link, Deadline March 31st.


  • Original Man’s Monologue Mixer– we are calling for North West writers to submit page long monologues to be performed by North West actors, directed remotely by North West directors.


3 writers, 3 actors and 3 directors will be picked at random (with some basic quality control at OM’s discretion) to collaborate on 3 new monologue performances. Deadline for entries is Wed 1st April, with pieces to be ready by Wed 8th April.

Payment will be a share of a fundraiser and entries will be edited together for donors to enjoy from the safety of isolation. Full information here.


  • The BBC Writers Room has launched Interconnected and are looking for original short-form scripts, between 5-10mins whose 2-4 characters now find themselves in isolation, but connecting via video conferencing. Pay: £300. Deadline: 30th March.



  • Carnon Downs Drama - New writing one act play competition, performances to take place in October. £100 for winning playwright. Deadline: 5th June


  • Work with Crimson Phoenix- open submission for plays and musicals, with up to 3 actors, for production in 2021 (royalties and payment). Deadline: 31st March.


  • Alpine Fellowship  Theatre Prize, proposals and sample work required for a £3000 total prize. Deadline: 1st April (unclear how they will respond to the virus as an international competition but they are still accepting entries)


  • Phil Fox Award - Call for full length scripts about issues related to addiction with a £6000 prize. Deadline 16th June.






  • Arvon Short Story Challenge - Each day, between Monday 30 March to Friday 3 April Arvon (Creative Writing Centres) will email you a handy writing prompt or exercise from short story guru Tania Hershman.
